For Patients Registered With The Pinn Medical Centre
Appointments can be booked from 08:15 to 19:30, seven days a week using the phone. They can also be booked 24 hours a day using our online booking system or the automated telephone system. You will need to register for the online service beforehand at reception, and obtain a pass-code.
Our phone lines are open from 08:15 to 19:30 7 days a week. We receive a large volume of calls between 08:00 and 12:00 every day, so you may find it easier to call after these hours.
We regularly review our appointment system and have taken into account patient feedback in order to provide the best possible service.
A percentage of appointments can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance to see a GP of your choice or up to 4 weeks in advance if your usual doctor is one of the Partners.
We also have a percentage of appointments which are available to book 48 hours in advance.
Your routine appointment will allow you to spend 10 minutes with the doctor. If you have a number of problems, the doctor may not be able to deal with all of them during this time and may ask you to book another appointment. This will avoid delaying patients waiting to see the doctor after you.
If you have a medical emergency that cannot wait until the next routine appointment is available, you will be asked to come down to the practice. You will be booked in with either the on-call doctor or nurse practitioner (depending on the nature of the problem).Whilst every effort will be made to see you as quickly as possible there could be a wait of up to 2 hours. Unfortunately we are unable to offer medical emergency appointments to fit in around work or school commitments. We run an emergency only service at weekends and we are therefore unable to provide telephone advice. Please contact 111 if you require telephone advice at weekends.
Automated Telephone Booking system
We have an automated telephone booking system which is available 24 hours a day. To use this facility please check we have your correct contact details on the system as it will not work if it is different.
Our "Making an Appointment" leaflet provides you with further guidance on using the system. We would encourage you to use this system to try and avoid unnecessary delays for reception to answer your call. If you have any problems using the system, please do not hesitate to discuss these issues with our reception staff.
For Patients Not Registered with The Pinn
The Pinn is a GP Led Health Centre that offers a “walk in service” for patients who are NOT registered with the surgery. This is a basic service to provide what medical care is necessary UNTIL that patient can be seen by their own GP. As always, an emergency situation will be dealt with by a doctor immediately regardless of the registration status of the patient.
If you need an examination and would like a chaperone please ask the doctor or nurse and they will arrange for one to be present.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
